Russian – French writer Andrei Makine to meet Romanian public in series of events this November

French writer Andrei Makine will be in Romania for a series of events and meetings with his readers between November 22 and 24. His arrival shortly follows his latest book publishing, Une Femme Aimée (translated as A loved woman, and in Romania O femeie iubita), which appeared at the local Polirom publishing house.

Makine will host a conference shaped as a dialogue with Dolores Toma, director of the Heterotopos study center on November 22, at 16,00, at the Letters and Foreign Languages Faculty in Bucharest.

He will then meet readers at Kyralina bookshop on November 23 starting 17,00 and talk to them about his favourite books, as well as give autographs. He will also attend the Gaudeamus International Book fair on November 24, at 15,00, where he will engage in a dialogue with Romanian journalist Luca Niculescu after answering questions from the audience.

His breakthrough came in 1995 with the book French Testament, which won several French literary prizes. In Romania, several of his books have been translated and published so far: The Crime of Olga Arbyelina, The Earth and Sky of Jacques Dorme, The Woman Who Waited, Human Love, among others.
