Sales of electric, hybrid cars double in Romania
Almost 700 electric and hybrid cars were sold in Romania in the first nine months of the year, more than double compared to the same period last year.
Only 333 such cars were acquired between January and September last year.
The Environment Ministry has increased the subsidies for people and companies who buy electric or hybrid cars this year.
The sales of hybrid cars rose by 88.7% year-on-year whereas the sales of electric cars went up by 129.4% compared to the same period last year. Green cars accounted for 0.8% of the number of new cars sold at national level during this period.
In September this year, 123 electric and hybrid cars were sold, down 26.7% compared to the previous month.
The best-selling green car brand between January and September is BMW, with 35 units, followed by Volkswagen (10 units), Mercedes-Benz and Volvo (9 each).
