The sales of electric vehicles in Romania, including hybrid and 100% electric cars, exceeded 2,000 units in the first ten months of this year, up 148% over the same period last year. Some 296 of them were 100% electric cars, more than double compared to the same period in 2016.

The share of eco vehicles in the total car sales reached 2% between January and October this year.

292 electric and hybrid cars were sold in October, up 10.6% over the previous month.

BMW was the most popular brand among the 100% electric cars, with 87 units sold in the first ten months of this year. Among the hybrid cars, Toyota ranked first, with 1,595 units between January and October this year.

Last year, Romanians acquired 1,195 electric and hybrid cars, up three times over 2015.
