Samsonite wants to reach 100 stores in Romania in the next five years
Bag and suitcase retailer Samsonite wants to reach 100 stores in Romania in the next five years, the company announced, reports local Wall-street.ro.
The company currently has 25 stores on the local market.
Last year, Samsonite recorded a turnover of EUR 6.8 million in Romania, up 7% year-on-year. The retailer plans to reach a turnover of over EUR 18 million by 2022.
The Samsonite distributor in Romania is the company General Business System. Some 60% of its turnover was generated by the sales in Bucharest last year.
Until the end of this year, the company wants to open ten new stores. “We are expanding the store network and we want to put particular emphasis on the online store,” said Elena Bucur, General Manager of Sales and IT of General Business System.
Samsonite suitcases were first created in 1910. The company is currently the worldwide market leader with a 75% share of this segment.
