Sanofi transfers drug production, packaging to Romanian factory
French group Sanofi last year transferred the production of 22 drugs to its Zentiva factory in Romania, either for production, or for packaging.
Meanwhile, 30 other drugs are in different stages of the transfer, according to a company’s report. Out of the 22 products transferred last year, 15 are completely manufactured in Romania, and for 7 only packaging is done locally.
One of this year’s priorities for the drug maker is to transfer new products to the local factory, as well as diversify Zentiva’s presence on various markets via exports. Last year, Sanofi exported 25 products to France, Germany, UK, Italy, Portugal, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
The Zentiva Bucharest factory manufactures 48 million drug units a year. The company, formerly known as Sicomed, is floating on the Bucharest Stock Exchange BVB, under the symbol SCD.
