Romanian seaside spa invests in upgrade, targets young clients to increase revenues

27 April 2015

Ana Aslan Health Spa, one of the largest spa facilities in Romania, aims to increase its revenues by 20% this year, by attracting younger clients with new wellness packages.

The spa, which includes 45 procedure rooms, is part of the Europa hotel in the Black Sea resort of Eforie Nord, just south of Constanta. Last year, the spa center had revenues of just under EUR 500,000, similar to those in 2013, the hotel’s manager Iuliana Tasie, told Romania-Insider.com. The spa is open seven months a year, from April to October, just like the hotel, and attracts clients mostly in the 40 to 60 age group.

Since its opening in 2004, Ana Aslan Health Spa has developed a loyal customer base for its spa treatments, especially for the Gerovital injections which help regenerate the cells and delay aging effects. This treatment, which is relatively little known in Romania, draws many foreign customers from Germany, France and other Western European countries, as well as from South America and Cuba.

“We are the market leader on the spa treatment, and we are most famous for the salt water and the mud we use, which comes from the Techirghiol lake. However, we aim to become more than a treatment center and to develop our wellness program. We have developed new massage programs that are more exotic and are suitable for weekend getaways, in order to attract younger clients. The new programs include facial and body aesthetics as well,” said Iuliana Tasie.

The hotel has invested over EUR 600,000 in the past three years to revamp the spa facilities and get new equipment for the space procedure rooms. The indoor salt water pool, sauna and bar also underwent complete renovation.

The four-star Europa hotel in Eforie Nord is part of Ana Hotels, one of the largest hotel groups in Romania, which is owned by the Copos family. The group also includes the five-star hotel Athenee Palace Hilton and four-star Crowne Plaza in Bucharest and three hotels in Poiana Brasov.
