Theater: Shakespeare Festival kicks off next month in Craiova
This year's edition of the Shakespeare Festival in Craiova will cover more than 100 events, ranging from theater performances and concerts to open-air film screenings, conferences and debates.
The event is scheduled to take place between May 19 and May 29 in 13 venues in Craiova, in southern Romania.
The public will be able to see performances directed by Canadian Robert Lepage, Lithuanian Oskaras Koršunovas, and Romanian Silviu Purcărete.
The Tiger Lillies Perform Hamlet, a punk cabaret spin on Shakespeare's play directed by Denmark's Theatre Republique's artistic director Martin Tulinius, is part of the program, as is Richard III directed by László Bocsárdi, a production of Marin Sorescu National Theater in Craiova and the Shakespeare Festival.
