Sick leave certificates may also be issued in electronic format in Romania, according to a normative document approved by the Government last week, reports local Avocatnet.ro.

Thus, the doctors who release these certificates will have to use an electronic signature, respecting a set of rules to be adopted in the coming period.

This means that the patient can also receive the sick leave certificate by email. However, the normative act has not come into force yet, and it might take some time before the provisions can be applied.
