Romania’s Simona Halep throws first pitch at NY Mets vs Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game
Romanian tennis ace Simona Halep, who is in New York preparing for the year’s last Grand Slam, took a break from tennis and turned to baseball for a little while.
Halep threw the ceremonial first pitch at the New York Mets vs Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game at Citi Field, reports Wtatennis.com.
“I’m so nervous!” she told Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki as they walked out to the mound in front of the New York crowd.
However, she did quite well throwing the game’s first pitch. (see video below)
Halep has once again missed the chance of becoming world No.1 last week, after losing the Cincinnati Western & Southern Open final to Spain's Garbine Muguruza.
The last Grand Slam of the year, US Open, will take place between August 28 and September 10 this year.
