Social democrats in Romania want to remove 102 taxes starting next year
The Social Democratic Party (PSD) will initiate a bill that aims to remove 102 non-fiscal taxes starting January 1, 2017.
PSD will submit the draft project to the Parliament today, social democrat leader Liviu Dragnea said.
These taxes to be eliminated include the TV-radio tax, consular fees or the fees paid for getting a temporary passport, reports local News.ro. Dragnea also wants to remove trade registry taxes, environmental taxes for motor-vehicles, and taxes for getting the criminal record.
Removing these levies means “less bureaucracy and more money for the citizens”, Dragnea said. The worst thing is the “humiliation people are exposed to” when they have to pay a tax, the PSD president also said.
“I’ve decided, together with my colleagues, not to expect the great de-bureaucratization trumpeted by the technocrats,” he added.
Dragnea was referring to a program initiated by the Government led by Dacian Ciolos, which has already introduced a series of measures which helped reduce bureaucracy and has announced more such measures.
