South-African real estate developer New Europe Property Investments (NEPI) opened its EUR 25 million mall in Piatra Neamt, in Northeastern Romania on December 1.

The mall has brought the first Carrefour hypermarket and several new brands in the city. Shopping City Piatra Neamt has over 70 retail spaces and generates over 1,500 new jobs in the Neamt county, according to NEPI.

The developer expects 5.5 million people to visit the mall in the first year after its opening. The 28,000-sqm shopping center also hosts the first Cinema City multiplex cinema in Piatra Neamt.

NEPI is the biggest mall owner in Romania. It owns three shopping centers in Bucharest (Mega Mall, Promenada, and Vulcan Value Center), and regional malls in Timisoara, Constanta, Ploiesti, Braila, Galati, Sibiu, Deva, and Targu-Jiu.
