Spain considers reintroducing wealth tax
The Spanish Government is considering the re-introduction of a wealth tax to improve national accounts, according to Spanish newspaper El Pais, quoted by Reuters. The tax brought around EUR 2 billion to the state in 2007, but was dropped in 2008, when the state wanted to stimulate the economy. This comes amid discussions in the Spanish Parliament on an austerity package and ahead upcoming elections.
