Govt. announces spokespersons for Romania’s EU Council presidency
Doris Mircea, a general director with the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE), and Nelu Barbu, the Government’s spokesperson, have been appointed spokespersons for the period Romania holds the EU Council presidency.
Doris Mircea (in opening photo) is a career diplomat and coordinator of the Communication, Promotion and Organization Division of the MAE Unit for the Preparation of Romania’s EU Council Presidency. Since 2002, she has been working with Romania’s Permanent Representation to the EU as a spokesperson, responsible for cultural affairs, education, research, public diplomacy and communication strategy. In 2008, she returned to the country to head the Communication Department and was appointed a spokesperson for MAE in 2010. She has a PhD in sociology and holds an M.A. in International Politics from the Université libre de Bruxelles.
Nelu Barbu is a state councilor of the prime minister and the spokesperson of the Government since February 2018. He has been working in mass media and public communication for 15 years.
