State aid for Bosch factory expansion in central Romania

Romania’s Finance Ministry recently approved a state aid worth EUR 16.6 million for German group Bosch Rexroth.

The state aid will help the group finance a EUR 33 million investment in expanding the Robert Bosch factory in Blaj, Alba county, in the center of Romania. This project would generate 568 new jobs and EUR 19 million in direct contributions to the state budget and local community budget, according to the Finance Ministry.

This is the first state aid the Government approved under the new scheme which it launched last year, with an annual budget of over EUR 100 million.

Bosch entered the Romanian market in 1994 and has invested EUR 180 million so far. It has about 2,400 employees.

The factory in Blaj, which produces components for the auto industry, has over 800 employees.
