State to bring Internet to 783 Romanian villages starting June

Telecommunications company Telekom will implement the Ro-Net project starting June, connecting to Internet over 783 villages in Romania.

However, the Romanian Ministry for Information Society first needs to approve the design and planning documentation carried out by Telekom, reports local Economica.net.

The telecommunications company won the project worth EUR 85 million following a public tender. It wants to finish implementing the Internet network by the end of October.

The project is due by the end of the year, according to the contract. It is co-financed via the European Regional Development Fund, and has received non-reimbursable funds of EUR 56.7 million.
