Statistics Office estimation: Romania’s GDP up 4.1% in third quarter of 2013

Romania’s economy was up 4.1 percent in gross series in the third quarter of 2013, compared to the same quarter of 2012, in line with previous estimations, the Romanian Statistics Office INS said in a second estimation.

Compared to the second quarter of 2013, Romania’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was, in real terms, 1.6 percent higher in Q3, in seasonally adjusted series.

“Between January 1 and September 30, 2013, the GDP increased by 2.7 percent in gross series and 2.6 percent in seasonally adjusted series, compared to the same period of 2012,” reads the INS statement.

Romanian prime-minister Victor Ponta recently stated that Romania ended 2013 with a budget deficit of 2.5 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) and an economic growth higher than expected.
