Steel producer ArcelorMittal Galati, the second largest energy consumer in Romania, is ready to sue the Romanian Government for delaying by half a year the company’s exemption from paying a part of the green certificates, said Bruno Ribo, ArcelorMittal Galati CEO, reports local Profit.ro.

In 2014, the Government decided to exempt the large energy consumers from paying a part of the green certificates.

However, problems have come up related to the moment when the exemption started applying. Consumers say that the exemption should have applied from the moment when they signed the agreement. However, the Government has recently issued a decision according to which the exemption would apply from the moment when the agreement has been approved.

Alro Slatina and ArcelorMittal Galati signed the agreements in December 2014, but they were approved in mid-2015. The companies want the reduction to apply for the entire 2015 not only for half a year.
