Study: 16% of Romania’s youth have no activity
A total of 16% of Romanian young people aged 18-24 have no activity, meaning they don’t study, don’t attend any training courses and are not employed. The EU average is 13%, according to a study of the European Commission, cited by local Mediafax.
The report also reveals that, between 2007 and 2012 Romania was the Member State that registered the highest reduction in education investment (40%), followed by Hungary with 30%, the UK, Latvia, Greece, Italy and Portugal (around 20%).
In 2013, only 5% of Romania’s workforce was employed in health and social assistance, this being the lowest level in the EU. The share was similar to the one registered in Cyprus, Bulgaria and Latvia.
