Study: 75% of Romanians believe they have an average living standard
Over 75% of Romanians believe that they have an average or above-the-average standard of living and that they have a sufficient income for a decent living that allows them to buy more expensive products, even if they sometimes need to make a sacrifice for that, according to a survey presented by consumer lender Provident Financial Romania.
The middle class has grown by 16.5 percentage points this year compared to 2013 when the company made a similar survey. Also, the share of Romanians who consider themselves poor dropped from 13.8% in 2013 to 5.6% this year.
The survey also shows that 31.5% of the Romanians fail to save money, down from 47.1% in 2013. Meanwhile, 34% of the respondents say they save money for the future, a similar share to 2013, and 32.2% say they manage to save money when they want to make big investments, double compared to 2013.
The study was made by the Novel Research on a sample of 1,003 people.
