25 March 2014

Over half of the Romanians who have made purchases online in the last six months paid less than EUR 100 for the most expensive product or service acquired, according to a study carried out by Daedalus Millward Brown.

Of these, over a quarter spent between RON 91 and RON 255 (EUR 21 and EUR 50) for online purchases, and 18 percent allocated between RON 226 and RON 450 (EUR 51-100). Some 16 percent spent less than EUR 20.

A total of 23.3 percent allocated between RON 451 and RON 1,300 (EUR 101 and EUR 300) for online purchases.

On the other hand, one in every 100 online buyers in Romania spent over EUR 1,000 on a product or service purchased online in the last six months.

The number of women who spent less than EUR 20 for online purchases in the last half of year is almost double compared to the number of men - 21.7 in the case of women against 12.6 in the case of men.

In terms of age, the percentage of those who have spent over EUR 100 for at least one product purchased online is 17 percent among young people (18-24), 41 percent in the case of those aged between 25-44, and almost 60 percent for shoppers aged between 45 and 55.

The study was conducted through online interviews on a sample of 600 respondents.
