Slightly over 40 percent of Romanians expect to do more sport next year, while only 15 percent think they will do less sport, according to the research study Sport in Romania – The link between brands, companies and sports, conducted by Quantix Marketing Consulting.

Over half of Romanians practice at least one sports activity per year, and 61 percent practice sports once a month. The study also reveals that 65 percent of Romanians can swim, and that they learn how to swim on average at 12.

Over 70 percent of Romanians who have children say they practice a type of sports. Over three quarters of them practice sports as amateurs, without being registered at any club.

Over 50 percent of the respondents consider that a vegetarian diet lowers performance in sport, according to the study. Over two thirds of Romanians appreciate live broadcasts of sporting events.

The research study analyzes Romanians’ perceptions and behaviors related to sports, as well as their perceptions about companies that are associated with sports, and is part of the SMARK Research series.
