Subscription-based healthcare services exceed EUR 50 mln in Romania
Private healthcare operators in Romania have more than one million subscribers for healthcare services, 20 years after this market was launched.
The value of the subscription-based healthcare services has reached EUR 50 million, reports local Profit.ro.
The sector has a potential to double until 2020, as the number of employees is growing and the operators are expanding to secondary cities, said Fady Chreih, general director of Regina Maria, one of the top private healthcare operators.
Employers have been allocating higher budgets for this area as they want to provide more benefits to their employees, Chreih explained.
Some 20 years ago, the medical subscription was considered an exclusive product, that was mostly received by expats. It has turned into the most requested and valued benefit that a company can provide to its employees besides wages, the Regina Maria CEO said. Companies pay between EUR 5-55 for one employee's subscription.
Last year, Regina Maria recorded 10,000 retail subscriptions, mainly in Bucharest.
