The 23rd edition of the George Enescu International Music Festival will take place in the period September 2-24, 2017, and will bring musicians such as tenor Jonas Kaufmann and pianist Lang Lang to Bucharest.

The subscriptions for the festival will start selling on December 5. Individual tickets can be purchased starting February 16 next year, the organizers announced.

The London Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski, will interpret the opera "Oedipus" by George Enescu in the opening of the festival.

Vladimir Jurowski is the artistic director of the 2017 George Enescu Festival. He said that the “Oedipus" is one of the most important operas of the 20th century, and that he had never conducted it before.
