Fast food chain Subway opened its second restaurant in Romania, after the Bucharest opening in April. Subway's second restaurant is located in Iulius Mall in Cluj – Napoca and covers 80 sqm.

The chain will continue with a third opening at the end of May, in Palas Iasi, based on a contract with the same real estate developer as for the Cluj shopping centre, Iulius Group.

Subway wants over 40 units in Romania in the next four years, after opening the 140-sqm restaurant downtown Bucharest, in Victoriei square.

The franchise costs for Subway are of EUR 7,500 a month, plus an 8 percent fee of the turnover for the franchise fund and 4.5 percent for the advertising fund.

Subway currently runs 36,000 restaurants in 98 countries. Regionally, the company already operates units in Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Slovakia and Croatia.
