Subway to open new restaurant in North Bucharest office compound
Fast food chain Subway will open a new unit in Bucharest, within the UpGround Business Center in Pipera, in the Northern area of Bucharest. This would be its third unit in Bucharest, after the first one opened in Victoriei square and a new one announced for Sun Plaza shopping center.
Subway chose to open its unit in the UpGround office building, where companies such as Intel, Banca Romaneasca and GFK have their headquarters.
As many as 20 Subway restaurants will open in Romania this year, joining the existing ones in Bucharest, Cluj – Napoca and Iasi.
The fast food chain signed 20 franchise contracts for the country already, after having entered the market earlier this year. Two more restaurants, in Pitesti and in Timisoara were also announced.
Subway became the largest fast food chain in the world in 2010, outranking McDonald's on number of restaurants. In 2011, Subway had over 33,400 restaurants in the world.
