Summer storm takes down trees, causes injuries in Bucharest
A summer storm hit Bucharest on Sunday evening, May 17, causing some serious damages in Romania’s capital.
Two people were electrocuted after stepping on electrical cables broken by falling trees, according to Daniel Vasile, spokesman for Bucharest’s Inspectorate for Emergency Situations ISU. The victims were taken to a hospital, reports local Agerpres.
Tress fell on the streets and on cars while some basements were flooded. Bucharest ISU teams conducted several interventions last night.
A first evaluation of ISU Bucharest shows that 14 trees fell on cars or on the streets, and 14 vehicles were damaged.
The sky remains clouded on May 18 in Bucharest, with a maximum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, according to meteorologists’ estimations. It will get a little bit hotter on May 18, with maximum temperatures of up to 30 degrees Celsius.
