A recent survey found three Romanian cities believed to be the cleanest in Romania.

The Brasov mountain resort, Oradea, and Sfantu Gheorghe are seen as the cleanest cities in Romania, according to a study compiled by real estate classifieds website Storia.ro.

The study, conducted in collaboration with research agency D&D Research, analyzed the citizens’ perception of the level of cleanliness in the cities and neighborhoods where they live.

Cluj-Napoca, Slobozia, Miercurea Ciuc, Pitești, Targu-Jiu, Drobeta Turnu-Serverin, and Targu Mures complete the top ten cleanest cities. Capital Bucharest, however, ranks only 23rd.

On the other hand, Resita, Calarasi, Braila, Satu Mare, Focsani, and Galati are among the cities that received the worst ratings for cleanliness from their inhabitants.

Among historical regions, almost 43,000 Romanians selected Transylvania as the region with the highest level of cleanliness. Meanwhile, Moldova occupies the last position while the Bucharest-Ilfov region is ranked fifth.

When it comes to neighborhoods, the top three is made of neighborhoods from Brasov, namely Avantgarden, Racadau, and Centrul Civic. The list continues with Gruia and Grigorescu neighborhoods in Cluj-Napoca, Aviatiei and Nicolae Grigorescu in Bucharest, Andrei Muresanu in Cluj-Napoca, and Pajura in Bucharest.

On the opposite side, the neighborhoods with the lowest level of cleanliness are Floresti in Cluj-Napoca, Moldoveni in Calarasi, 3 Insule in Arad, Calea Caransebesului in Resita, and Ferentari in Bucharest.

According to Bucharest inhabitants, the Romanian capital is not among the cleanest cities in Romania, ranking only 23rd. More than 35,000 Bucharesters evaluated the neighborhoods they live in, with first positions occupied by Aviatiei, Nicolae Grigorescu, and Pajura. Titan, Damaroaia, Domenii, Baneasa, and Bucurestii Noi are also in the top ten.

At the other end of the ranking are neighborhoods such as Ferentari, Salaj, Rahova, and Gara de Nord.

Another study by Storia.ro, released at the end of April, showed that Ploiesti, Calarasi, and the capital Bucharest are perceived as the three cities with the lowest air quality in Romania. Also, a previous study revealed that Oradea, a city in western Romania, is perceived as the local city with the best medical facilities.
