Swedish bands Opeth and Katatonia to perform on the same stage in Romania this summer

Two Swedish progressive rock bands, Opeth and Katatonia will perform for the first time on the same stage in Romania, this June at Arenele Romane in capital city Bucharest. Both bands were formed in the early 90s in Stockholm, Sweden and attracted the attention of metal music public and critics. Opeth incorporated elements of progressive music like Dream Theater with folk influences, blues, classical and jazz, while Katatonia focused on gothic and alternative music.

Opeth has launched so far nine studio albums, three live albums and three DVDs. The last four of them occupied high positions in the US Billboard charts and Heatseekers. The band is currently recording in the studio for a new album scheduled to appear on the market until later this year. More about the band.

Katatonia's discography consists of eight studio albums, seven EPs, two live albums, two Best of compilations and three DVDs. The album “The Great Cold Distance” released in 2006 is considered to be the band’s best material. More about the band.

Both bands held concerts around the world at the most important festivals: Sonisphere, Graspop, Rock Im Park and Rock Am Ring, Wacken, Rock Hard Festival, Hellfest, Roskilde or Sziget. Opeth played for the first time in Romania in 2009 at the Artmania festival in front of 5000 spectators while the Katatonia concert in 2007 at the Preoteasa Club, was sold out.
