Swedish Govt. and Gripen reps. meet Romanian senators to submit aircraft offer
Swedish government representatives are meeting with members of the Defense Commission in the Romanian Senate to submit their offer for Gripen aircraft from Saab. Swedish government representatives have previously expressed their discontent over Romania choosing the F16 aircraft offer from Lockheed Martin without knowing the offer for the Gripen aircraft.
Saab is offering 24 new Gripen aircrafts at the same price Lockheed Martin is selling second hand F16, which is EUR 1 billion.
“The Swedish government offer takes into account Romania's difficult economic situation and the lack of resources which trigger the recommendation to buy the F16 second hand aircraft, as well as the urgency of the aircraft replacement program so that Romania can ensure safety and sovereignty of its airspace and fulfill its NATO mission,” said Saab's representatives.
Jerry Lindbergh, representative of the Swedish Government dealing with military equipments transactions and Richard Smith, head of marketing for Gripen Romania will present the off fer to the Romanian Senate
