Swimming pool installed in downtown Bucharest
A 20-meter long swimming pool has been installed in George Enescu Square in downtown Bucharest, next to the Romanian Athenaeum, and will stay open until June 26.
Several events are being organized at the pool, such as swimming classes for children and aqua gym, but the Bucharesters can also go there for a swim in the evening, reports local Europafm.ro.
The pool is 20-mmeter long, 10-meter wide and 1.5-meter deep. All activities are free of charge. More information here.
Romanian swimmer Camelia Potec, who wants to encourage both children and adults to swim, has initiated the project. The event also marks her retirement from professional sport.
Camelia Potec, 34, won the gold medal in the women's 200 m freestyle at the 2004 Summer Olympics. During her career of over 20 years, Potec has won 200 national titles and has set numerous records.
