Swiss cement producer ups sales by one third in Romania
Sales of Swiss cement producer Holcim increased by 29.4% year-on-year in the first quarter in Romania. The growth was due to new construction projects, as market prices declined by 4.7%.
On the aggregates segment, the group’s sales in Romania doubled while prices dropped 8.5%.
“In Romania, Holcim benefited from several big construction projects, which determined the increase in the cement sales, whereas in the other countries in the region sales dropped,” reads a group report.
Holcim recorded in the first quarter a EUR 296.4 million net profit at a group level. The net sales fell by 2.8% to EUR 3.7 billion.
