Employees of the Romanian state airline Tarom could go on strike this summer, dissatisfied with salaries, trade union representatives warned.

The flight attendants are paid RON 3,000 (EUR 600) and mechanics RON 3,900 (EUR 800).

At this moment, Tarom has only 1,211 employees, and they are very poorly paid, the trade union said, quoted by Economica.net. Some 220 of the employees are reportedly still paid the minimum statutory wage.

"I can tell you that many employees leave the company for other foreign companies where they are better paid," stated trade union leader Narcis Pascu.
