Tarom launches Iasi-Timisoara flights

26 March 2018

Romanian state-owned airline Tarom launched on Sunday, March 25, the direct flights from Iasi, in Eastern Romania, to Timisoara, in the West.

The company will have four flights a week on this route with ticket prices starting at EUR 20.

“Today, a Tarom flight is the shortest way from Timisoara to Iasi. Passengers get to the destination in less than two hours,” said Tarom general manager Wolff Werner Wilhelm.

A train ride from Iasi to Timisoara takes over 16 hours while the 630-kilometer car ride between the two cities takes over 10 hours.

“We believe that Romanians deserve a national company that develops internal flights, because here we have a segment of customers who have been neglected in recent years. Moreover, we are confident that all these routes will be profitable for the company,” the Tarom GM added.

Tarom also prepares to launch international flights from the Timisoara airport.

The company’s move comes after low cost operator Blue Air cancelled its Iasi-Cluj-Napoca-Timisoara route and Ryanair closed its operational base in Timisoara, cancelling several international flights from the city.
