Taxes paid by card increase by 42% in Romania
The value of taxes paid by card rose by 42% last year, reaching about EUR 55.1 million.
The context was more favorable, as online transactions increased by 74%, according to the data reported by Visa Europe member banks in Romania.
The Romanian taxpayers made almost 750,000 payments by card last year to pay their tax liabilities, 49% more compared to 2014.
In November last year, about 180 city halls and town halls in Romania were accepting card payments physically (at the counter) and 120 of them accepted card payments directly through the online application called ghiseul.ro.
The Finance Ministry and the Communication Ministry are planning to further develop the ghiseul.ro platform this year.
