Telekom completes first step for Internet in 783 poor villages in Romania
Telecom player Telekom Romania has completed the first stage of the Ro-NET project, which aims at creating a broadband Internet network in 783 poor localities of Romania.
The project, which is worth over EUR 85.6 million, is due by the end of the year. Telekom Romania completed the network design, according to company representatives, reports local Hotnews.ro.
The Ro-NET project doesn’t include connecting to the Internet the almost 400,000 inhabitants of those areas. Telekom will operate the network, but final consumers can sign up for internet connection with any operator that rents network use.
The project is financed by European Funds.
