10 November 2016

Telekom Romania, one of the top tree telecom groups on the local market, posted total revenues of EUR 242 million in the third quarter, 1.3% higher compared to the same period of 2015, according to the financial report of parent-group Deutsche Telekom.

Telekom’s revenues went up by 2.3% on the fixed segment, to EUR 135 million, and stagnated at EUR 107 million on the mobile segment.

The operational profit before interest and amortization (EBITDA) increased by 10.4% compared to the third quarter of 2015, to EUR 53 million.

Telekom Romania saw a negative evolution in the number of clients in the past 12 months (September 2015 to September 2016). The number of fixed-network lines dropped by 5.6% to under 2 million and the overall number of mobile customers declined by 0.6%, to 5.87 million.

However, the group continued to increase the number of fixed-mobile bundle clients. This resulted in a 1.4% increase in the number of broadband internet clients (to 1.2 million) and a 2% increase in the number of TV clients (to 1.46 million). The number of mobile subscribers also went up by 6.5%, to 1.96 million.

The drops in the number of clients were mainly on the fixed voice and mobile prepaid segments.

Overall, in the first nine months of 2016, Telekom Romania posted EUR 718 million in revenues, down 0.8% year-on-year, and an operational profit (EBITDA) of EUR 129 million, down 15.1%, due to lower results in the first half of the year.
