Telekom Romania sees slightly lower revenues in the first half

Telecom operator Telekom Romania registered revenues of EUR 476 million in the first half of the year, down 1.2% compared to the same period in 2015, according to the financial report of German group Deutche Telekom.

In the first half of 2015, Telekom Romania registered revenues of EUR 482 million.

The EBITDA dropped by 26.9%, from EUR 104 million in the first half of 2015 to EUR 76 million in the same period this year.

On the fixed services segment, Telekom Romania Communications registered revenues of EUR 263 million, down 6.7% year-on-year. The company had 1.2 million broadband subscribers at June 30, 2016, similar to the number reported at the end of March, but up 1.5% compared to end-June 2015. The fixed-network lines dropped to 2.02 million at the end of June this year.

Meanwhile, on the mobile communications segment, Telekom Mobile Romania Communications registered revenues of EUR 213 million, up by 6.5% over the first half of 2015. The mobile customers base stood at 5.909 million at the end of June this year, down 1.8% year-on-year.

Telekom Romania Communications and Telekom Romania Mobile Communications are both part of Deutsche Telekom group, which controls the two companies via Greek group OTE.

In the second quarter of 2016, Telekom Romania registered revenues of EUR 242 million, up 0.4% compared to the same period the previous year. In the second quarter of 2015, the company posted total revenues of EUR 241 million.

The EBITDA dropped by 22.4% year-on-year in the second quarter, to EUR 38 million.
