16 September 2011

Movie lovers in Romania will be able to watch movies that took part in the Cannes 2011 competition in a special event that will take place in October in Bucharest. “Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest” event will bring Cannes movies in the Romanian capital city between October 14 and October 20. Now in its second edition, the event will bring for the first time in Romania some of the most liked, discussed and awarded films from this year's Cannes selection. The program will be completed by a selection of Romanian films that have reached the prestigious festival in the past decade.

“Le Havre” film directed by Aki Kaurismaki was the critic’s favorite and will be among the movies screened in Bucharest in October. Also for the first time in Romania, “Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest” brings “This Must Be the Place", the first English-language film directed by the Italian Paolo Sorrentino. Other movies to be screened during this event are Kim Ki-duc’s latest film “Arirang”, “The tree of life” directed by Terrence Malick (which won the Palme D'Or this year; trailer below), Lars von Trier’s “Melancholia”, and Woody Allen’s comedy “Midnight in Paris”.

All the films will be screened at Studio Cinema and the New Cinema of the Romanian Director. The full program will be available in October on the events’ official website www.filmedefestival.ro.
