Three Romanians join European artists and a donkey in outdoor walking festival across Belgium
Romanians Cristian Bors, Marius Ritiu and Daniel Djamo are among the 30 participants at the Sideways Festival in Belgium, an unusual art creation event that involves working while traveling around the country, using a donkey to carry the necessary multimedia equipment.
The artists, helped by the donkey called “DonkeyXote”, will be traveling 334 kilometers. They will halt in five cities along their journey, at Menen (August 18 to 19), Herzele (August 25 to 26), Brussels (September 1 to 2), Turnhout (September 8 to 9) and Zutendaal (September 15 to 16).
Bors and Ritiu will present their artistic concept “Bleach Gallery” which involves the creation of a cheap gallery of their own creation, and Daniel Djamo will be presenting the project “My Road”, a video and photography installation centered on the idea of the road as a meeting place for socializing and building a story or legend.
Sideways is an expedition in which over 30 artists from Belgium cross the country west to east, between August 17 and September 17, organizing various events - performances, installations, workshops, live art- painting while walking and discovering edible plants along their way. The festival sums up 33 artistic projects made outdoor, and is intended to establish a link between culture and ecology.
