Time magazine features Romanian writer Cartarescu's reading recommendations
Romanian writer Mircea Cartarescu is one of the 23 writers asked by US magazine Time to make reading recommendations for its most recent summer issue. “I always reread J.D. Salinger's books. Right now it's Franny and Zooey. I think it's at least the 10th time that I've read it. I know it almost by heart, actually. It's not a book of literature for me; it's a sort of gospel. The English translation of Cartarescu's Blinding (Orbitor) trilogy will be out next year,” wrote Time.
The article, called Pack your (book) Bag also includes the line 'The best pages to turn this summer, from 23 authors we admire'.
Mircea Cartarescu is one of the best known contemporary Romanian authors. He is a poet, novelist and essayst, member of the Romanian Writers’ Union and of the European Cultural Parliament. His works have been translated into more than 14 languages, bringing him international fame.
