Timisoara City Hall illegally fingerprints its employees
The Timisoara City Hall has been fined EUR 4,000 for digitally fingerprinting its employees.
The National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing recently discovered that the City Hall has been illegally taking its employees’ digital fingerprints, for an electronic clocking system. This system was installed in 2009, but the City Hall failed to announce The National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing about using this procedure, reports local Profit.ro.
It also showed bad faith in informing its employees about their rights in this case.
The City Hall has processed biometric data excessively. It could have used other methods, which were less invasive, for clocking the working time of employees, according to the authority.
