Romanian billionaire adds Maybach S650 Cabriolet to rare car collection

18 January 2018

A Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet will be on display in the rare car gallery Tiriac Collection beginning January 2018, Wall-street.ro reported. This is the first Maybach model in the car collection of Romanian investor and former tennis player Ion Tiriac that is shown to the public.

Tiriac, the only Romanian to feature in the Forbes ranking of the world’s richest, re-opened his rare car collection to the public in 2015. This came with a triple number of items on show and a doubled display area.

The Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet is the first cabriolet from the Mercedes‑Maybach brand. It made its debut at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. It is part of a series of only 300 cars, with a net price tag of EUR 300,000.

Unique features of the vehicle include nine additional color concepts for the interior, the trim – optionally refined with "flowing lines," and the hand-finished craftsmanship of the leather seats with perforations in a waterfall-style look. The drive system requirements are catered for by the 6.0‑litre V12 engine with an output of 463 kW (630 hp).

The car included in the businessman’s collection has the headrests inscribed with the Tiriac Collection name.

Tiriac's collection includes rare cars such as the Cord 812 Custom Beverly (1937), Dodge Charger R/T (1968), Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz (1959), Cadillac Torpedo Touring (1912), Cadillac Sixty Special (1957), and Chrysler Town and Country (1949), among others.

The Tiriac Collection can be visited in the northern part of Bucharest, at 289 Calea Bucurestilor, across the street from the Henri Coanda airport in Bucharest.
