Top five companies with largest public contract values in Romania
Farmexpert, one of the main drug distributors in Romania, ranks first based on the total value of public contracts concluded online in 2015 through the electronic public procurement system SEAP.
Four out of the five companies that benefited from the largest public procurement contract values are active in the pharma sector, reports local Mediafax.
Farmexpert is part of the multinational Walgreens Boots Alliance. It posted a turnover of EUR 620.4 million and a net profit of about EUR 16.6 million last year. The company was founded in 1996 by Romanian investor Eugen Baciu, and ten years later it became a member of the multinational Walgreens Boots Alliance, which is headquartered in the US.
The value of its 4,700 contracts exceeded RON 2.5 billion (EUR 554 million) in 2015, according to SEAP data.
Mediplus Exim ranked second, with 3,060 contracts, whose value exceeded EUR 396.6 million. Mediplus, which began its activity in 1994, is one of the main local drug distributors. One year ago, the company had a turnover of EUR 744.5 million and a net profit of EUR 19.5 million.
Mediplus, together with the Sensiblu pharmacies, are part of the A&D Pharma group.
Polisano ranked third, with about 4,100 contracts exceeding RON 1 billion (EUR 221.6 million). The next positions were taken by the construction company Erbasu SA and pharma company Farmexim.
