Tourism Authority: Romania’s tourist brand is outdated

Romania’s tourist brand, with a slogan describing a lush, green, and slightly wild destination, should be repositioned as it is a bit outdated and doesn’t operate properly, said Anca Nedea, president of the National Tourism Authority (ANT).

She added that Romania should be promoted on segments, on various tourism niches, and not in a general way, reports local Profit.ro.

Romanian destinations should improve their infrastructure and brands in order to be more popular than the generic destination "Romania".

“The destination ‘Romania’ doesn’t work, because we’re not yet France or Great Britain,” said the ANT head.

She added that several destinations in Romania have increased their own brands, in the last years, using the local flavor, authenticity, and other specific elements.
