Trade deficit grows, cars and transport equipments cover most of trade
Romania's trade deficit grew by 1.9 percent in the first eight months on the same period last year, to EUR 6.09 billion, with exports growing at a slightly higher pace than imports, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The trade deficit in RON grew by 0.45 percent in the first eight months, to RON 25 billion. Romania exported EUR 23.3 billion worth of products and services during the first eight months, while imports stood at EUR 29.4 billion.
Cars and transport equipments made the bulk of exports – 42 percent, and 34.9 percent of imports. Other manufactured products covered 34.2 percent of exports and 30.9 percent of imports.
