Trading on the Bucharest Stock Exchange will be extended by more than an hour in an attempt to better connect the Bucharest market to other stock markets in the world, and have a bigger scheduled overlap.

Trading on the BSE will last for eight hours, from 10.00 to 18.00 Romania time. The current closing time is 16.45. This will provide an hour and a half overlap with the New York Stock Exchange, which opens at 16.30, Romania time. It will also bring the BSE in line with major European stock exchanges, which have the same trading hours, 10.00 to 18.00, Romania time.

However, for some products sold on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, such as structured products and shares of foreign companies listed on the alternative trading system ATS, trading already ends at 18.30, Romania time. Trading time for these segments was extended in the beginning of 2012.

The latest change in trading time for the main BSE platform was made in July 2011, when the closing time moved from 16.30 to 16.45, allowing investors around 15 minutes to react to the opening on the New York Stock Exchange.
