Transport minister promises 18-min. train trip between Bucharest and Otopeni Airport from 2018
Romania’s railway company CFR Infrastuctura will revamp the existing railway line between Bucharest’s main train station Gara de Nord and Odaile station in Otopeni, and will build 2.3 km of new track to the Henri Coanda International Airport.
Thus, the passengers will be able to get from Bucharest’s Gara de Nord to the airport in just 18 minutes, said transport minister Sorin Buse, reports local Agerpres.
The project also includes a temporary station and a moving walkway to the airport. The total investment will amount to EUR 88 million, and the work will be completed in April 2018, the minister said. A train trip from Gara de Nord to the airport will cost RON 3.99 (less than EUR 1).
Transport minister Sorin Buse visited Odaile station on Tuesday. This is currently the nearest train station to the Otopeni Airport. From there, the passengers currently get to the airport by bus.
