Trelleborg Automotive receives state aid to expand Romanian plant
Automotive components manufacturer Trelleborg Automotive Dej received state aid of EUR 5.4 million for expanding its plant in Dej, Cluj county, northwestern Romania.
The investment has a total value of EUR 16 million and consists in building a production hall and purchasing equipment.
“284 new jobs will be created, which will bring the total number of employees to 585, turning Trelleborg into one of the largest foreign employers in Cluj county,” reads a statement of the Cluj County Council.
The company’s turnover is also expected to increase from the current EUR 40 million to over EUR 100 million annually.
“At the same time, given that 70 percent of the production targets international markets, the project will also support Cluj county’s exports, and Romania’s as well,” according to the statement.
Trelleborg Automotive Dej is part of TrelleborgVibracoustic group.
Some of Trelleborg’s main customers are Renault-Nissan, Ford, Volkswagen and BMW. On the Romanian market, the company is the main supplier of manufacturer Dacia-Renault.
Trelleborg Automotive Dej recorded a turnover of some EUR 34 million (RON 143.8 million) in 2011, according to the data on the Ministry of Finance’s website.
