Turkish fashion retailer Koton opens big store in Bucharest’s Old Town
Turkish fashion retailer Koton opened its newest shop in Romania on November 26. The store is located in Bucharest’s Old Town, on Lipscani Street, across the street from the H&M store.
The investment in this opening amounted to EUR 6.5 million, most of the money covering for the purchase and revamping of the historic building in which the store is located. The renovation and consolidation work took 12 months to complete. The store has 1,850 sqm on three levels.
Koton has been active in the local market since 2007. However, its business has increased very much in the past three years. In 2015, Koton’s sales reached EUR 17.7 million, up from EUR 5 million in 2012.
The business increase has been supported by new store openings. The retailer has stores in the most important malls in Bucharest and in several other big cities.
