Sales on the auto segment in Romania went up in October both month-on-month and year-on-year, according to statistics. The turnover volume shown by seasonally adjusted motor vehicles' sales figures increased by 2.2 percent in October 2011 compared with September this year and by 8.7 percent on October 2010.

National Statistics Institute (INS) figures for gross turnover volume show a 6.4 percent increase on September 2011. Compared to October 2010, the gross sales turnover grew by 10.3 percent and gross services turnover by 12.4 percent.

Figures for the first ten months of 2011 show a gross 4.7 percent turnover increase in the auto trade on the same period in 2010.

Compared with October of last year, the gross turnover for wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, registered an increase of 10.3 percent, due to recorded increases in maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (20.5 percent), the trade in motor vehicles (over 11.9 percent) and trading parts and accessories for motor vehicles (over 5.2 percent).

The trade in motorcycles, parts and accessories, maintenance and repair by 8.3 percent.
